WackyB Yahoo Messenger Skins

Some of these WackyB skins are so dang cute. I had to install a couple of them. I'm not crazy about the cow one, but then again, I'm not crazy about cows.
I'm gonna show Regg the fishing one when he gets home, he might like that one. He loves to fish but hates green, so we'll see.

We lost power twice this morning. Probably from the store that's due in around 4 p.m. today.
At least that's what I'm guessing. Who knows, we've lost power quite a bit already this year from different crap.

Guess that's it for now. Just had to put up those cute skins.

Tabbed IM Windows

Tabbed IM Windows is a great idea!

It's a beta program right now, but I just had to write a little article/tutorial on it.

Today's Hike

Today's hike not only gave us some good exercise and was fun, but we turned up another skull, a deer skull to be exact. So of course we'll have to clean it and the kids will be taking it in to school as usual. (Cleaned it might look as nice as this). Two hikes ago, we picked up a cat skull, cleaned it and they took it in. Their science teacher loves that they do this. Who knows, it could be the start of a career for one of them.

To clean them:

I have seven children who've all taken in bone specimens for their teachers, and this is the process I've used for years. Never use bleach if you plan to keep the bones intact and want them to last a long time, bleach damages the bones. Since bone is porous it will stain easily and absorb oils from our skin. Bones should always be handled with very clean hands, preferably with latex gloves or a utensil (tongs). If it is picked clean (animals already snacked on it) and there is no skin or hair evident, it can first be cleaned with warm soapy water using a soft bristled brush (toothbrush works good). Wet the bone’s surface and scrub carefully. You can sterilize it by putting it in hydrogen peroxide until it reaches the whiteness you’re looking for.

If there is tissue or hide left, I would clean it using the maceration method.

http://www.boneroom.com/faqs/maceration.pdf

Maceration - uses bacterial action in the water to clean the bone.

If you aren't in a hurry and enjoy watching nature, you can use Museum Beetles. They work great for those delicate pieces that our human hands might otherwise break unintentionally.

We also found a fossilized bone.
More pics of our hike.

Family Walk

We all took a walk tonight, including Reggie!
It was so nice and tranquil down by the crick (Catie's "Blubbering Brook" LOL), we all wanted to stay and camp out.
We could've gotten some good shots, but we didn't take the camera. If we go tomorrow, I'll take it for sure. Hopefully Reggie will go with us tomorrow also.

I've put a couple pics up from a little while back, but it's the same spot we visited today. We ended up going in the culvert and poking around. We also brought home some fresh water for the fish in Brandon's terrarium he made at school.

Day of Rest - HA! LOL

I know that Sunday is suppose to be a day of rest, but not today.
Poor Regg had to cut our grass which needed it ever so badly. Thing is, our lawnmower is on its last wheel, push mower at that, so he had to cut most of it with the weedwacker. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I'm glad it's done though. I love when the grass is all freshly cut, it looks so nice. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Guess that's it for now, gotta go so I can watch Blood Ties.

New Guestbook

I've been doing a bit of Web design today.
Tryin' to figure out what I want to change with my site.
I did change guestbook hosts though. I've got a cool flash one from flash-guestbook.
T. wants the one with the little car that zooms around, so maybe sometime Monday I'll fix his site with that one. He'll be tickled pink about it.

Anyway, with my site...I just don't know what I want to do with it exactly. I haven't found anything as far as free templates that strikes my fancy yet. Sure, a few possibilities, but nothing that just jumps out at me.
GUI has some nice stuff, but it doesn't fit my personal site. I'm already using one from there for my callsign site at geocities. I just want something, I don't know, more girlish or writer-based I guess.

~*~

Other news...

I managed to edit two of my stories. It won't be long and they'll be off to the publisher for a look-see. *crosses fingers

~*~

Three out of seven boxes remain in the shed from the barn stuff. I managed to get rid of quite a bit. One box is full of cassettes and CD's, one has VCR tapes and the other has misc. stuff that I think I'm going to keep. The kids were glad to get their outside tote back from the barn too. That box of theirs was getting a bit stuffed and crumpled. A 40 gallon tote beats a 10 gallon box anyday!
So yeah, I'd say they were pleased to have it back home.
We still have a crap-load of stuff to bring home and go thru though.

Guess that's it for now

Death is Life

Death is Life

Without death, there cannot be life.

So, if death didn’t exist, neither would life.

There would be no purpose, no reason for life.

We wouldn’t even exist.

Alive is to possess a state of nephesh or consciousness.

Exist is to be. Life is more than that; it is living.

Life isn’t just a mere existence in the world of the living.

It is a state of being alive; living, breathing, thinking, knowing, acting, reacting, feeling, tasting, touching, hearing, smelling, loving, hating and . . . dying.

Everything, everyone, comes full circle.

Everything, everyone, must have a purpose.

To live is to have purpose.

To have purpose, is to have life.

To have life, is to have death.

That is not to say that our life ends at death.

What journey awaits us in our afterlife?

What purpose do we go on to?

We must move on. Otherwise, we live in purgatory.

Purgatory – no life, no life after death, no death – only, existence.

What is that? What, would that be like? I pray to never know firsthand.

Hell, may very well be purgatory.

Are you willing to take that chance?

I’m not.

Would that be so bad you say?

What about an undying thirst for water, sex, or even love; never escaping pain with death or death itself; to never quench any thirst, or passion?

To think, and never reach any conclusion or to be titillated beyond imagination, but never achieve orgasm would be considered hell, wouldn’t it?

To never be rid of what tortures you or your soul; to crave and to never be satisfied?

To be raped or murdered, over and over again with no end to your pain.

To be the rapist or murderer, over and over again; to never end your craving as it consumes you.

To be born again.

What does that mean to you?

To me, it not only means the purification of a soul after death, but something deeper.

Not only can we not enter the gates of Heaven without purification, but that also means we cannot move on to our new journey.

You must die in this life to live another.

What’s to say we aren’t all reincarnated?

What did happen to the dinosaurs?

Were murderer’s once carnivorous or vegetarian’s herbivores?

Do we shed one shell (body) for another?

If so, then is it that we ascend at death?

Is death ascension?

Is ascension the beginning of a new journey?

If so, then death is life.

I wasn’t sure what to call this - Death vs. Life, Death and Existence, Death - A New Journey Begins, etc.

I think the title chosen became appropriate somewhere during the process.
